100 Bigs in 100 Days!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee is looking for mentors just like you.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee is launching a new recruitment campaign: 100 Bigs in 100 Days! The goal is to increase their impact in the community by recruiting an additional 100 volunteer mentors for the hundreds of children on their waitlist. In the Community-based Program, ‘Bigs’ meet with their ‘Littles’ weekly, enjoying free and low cost activities around the city like shooting hoops, going to the library, or visiting a local museum.

“The opportunity to mentor a child and help him grow as a person is incredible, and quite frankly, it’s a lot of fun for me too. I joined BBBS to be a positive role model for a child, what I didn’t expect was how much of an impact my Little would have on me! Often times in my busy life I forget to slow down and just enjoy the ride; spending time with my Little is a good way for me to refocus and remember what’s really important in life. We’ve enjoyed some great activities such as going to a Brewer Game and jumping around at Sky Zone, but even doing things as simple as playing catch in the park or fishing at the Fox River have been great; just spending time together is important.” – Big Brother Dan F.

All volunteers must go through a thorough screening process which includes a formal application, a layered criminal background screening, reference checks, and an in-person interview. For the Community-based Program, volunteers must be 21 years or older, able to meet three to four times per month for a minimum of two years.
