Kohl's Sniffs Out Attempt to Turn Scents into Dollars

Reports state a Milwaukee man had taken more than $800 in perfume from the Kohl's Department Store in Muskego to pay for a heroin habit

It could be the sweet smell of justice, but a Milwaukee man has been charged for stealing $875 in perfume from the Muskego Kohl's last week.

According to the criminal complaint:

Jamie Maldonado Feliciano, 41, of Milwaukee and a friend drove to the store on May 10 with the story that Feliciano needed to pick up a Mother's Day gift.

However, reports state that loss prevention at the store observed Feliciano stealing bottles of women's perfume. When police arrived, he was being chased through the store by employees and was eventually caught at his friend's vehicle.

Estimates of the 14 bottles that were found in Feliciano's pockets place the value at $875.48. He told officers that he has shoplifted before, and that he stole to support a heroin habit.

Feliciano has been charged with one count of retail theft as well as one count of bail jumping stemming from a pending case of retail theft in Milwaukee County. He faces a maximum penalty of $20,000, seven years in prison or both if convicted. His next appearance in court is May 20 for a preliminary hearing.
