Ruth brings to life the community spirit that drove neighbors to help neighbors in times of illness, during planting and harvest and as a source of entertainment. And, more than 140 photos and 20 family recipes illustrate the authenticity of this farm family right down to the desserts that were served.

While farming practices and daily routine have changed, Ruth demonstrates how her family’s faith remains constant. Ruth’s father was a leader of Emanuel Church in Hales Corners, as well as the Golden Guernsey Dairy Cooperative, and other farming organizations still serving their members today.
