Muskego Kiwanis Invite You to Spruce Up

Annual Muskego tree and mulch sale is a little later this year because of cold temps, but returns nonetheless with trees and mulch

It's one of those signs of spring, and this year a stubborn winter nearly sidelined it, but the annual Kiwanis tree sale will take place this Saturday in front of the Muskego Pick n Save.

The sale runs from 8 a.m. to noon, or until the trees and cocoa bean mulch are gone.

Organizers say it's a great way to plant and beautify your landscape for far less than the "big box" nurseries, and helps support the local community at the same time.

"We are very lucky to have a resource that supplies us with the trees and mulch at such a great price, and that's why we can provide our residents with the products at $1 or more less per bag of mulch," said Kiwanis member Dave Taube.

The tree sale has been an annual event for about 11 years, but late season snow and cold pushed this year's event back to the first weekend in May.

"Our supplier said the temps were too cold to remove the seedlings from the ground - it was still freezing," Taube explained.

Trees are Colorado Blue Spruce, and they come in two sizes:

12" to 16" seedlings for $2 each
16" to 20" seedlings for $4 each

In addition to trees, we also have cocoa bean mulch for $4 a bag (2 cubic feet).
