Muskego Landfill Owner to Give MMSD Free Landfill Gas for 25 Years
Advanced Disposal came up short on delivering landfill gas to MMSD, delivering only 29 percent of what they had been contracted for

MUSKEGO — Advanced Disposal Services will provide the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District with up to landfill gas valued at up to $14.5 million over 25 years from the Emerald Park Landfill in Muskego, based on a new contract negotiated to settle district claims against the company.
According to a report by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Advanced Disposal, which owns Emerald Park, has not delivered the minimum annual amount of landfill gas required under the original contract, providing only 29% of the contract minimum flow in 2015 and less than one-third in 2014, records show.
According to the Journal Sentinel, MMSD spent $143,989 last year on unbudgeted purchases of natural gas to make up the shortfall from Advanced Disposal. In 2014, the district spent $1.6 million on unbudgeted purchases of natural gas.
