Muskego Patch Picks of the Week

It's a busy week ahead, so be a bit of a tourist in your own town, and try to catch all that's going on in Muskego between now and May 19.

While you're enjoying Mother's day, Muskego Patch looked ahead at the week to come and were amazed at the events rolling our way.

Here's a quick run down of the events that are worthy of your attention - how many do you plan on making?

Monday, May 13 - Muskego Parks and Recreation Board, 5:30 p.m. On the agenda: Discussion on a private partnership for a dog park in the city; what is being done to cover up an unsightly dumpster at Idle Isle Park; Big Bend reaches out to connect a trail with Muskego

Tuesday, May 14 - 

Muskego Woman's Club Blood Drive, Tess Corners Fire Station #3, 2:30 - 6:30 p.m.

Park Arthur Ribbon Cutting, first game of the season at Park Arthur, 4:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Muskego Meetings: Finance Committee, Common Council beginning at 6 p.m. On the agenda: the city is poised to hire a consultant to do a traffic study for the intersection of Moorland and Woods Road; the former BP gas station site hits a snag for a sale between the county and city; road projects on Janesville and the recreational trail along Highway OO proceed if agreements are approved.

Wednesday, May 15 - 

Business After Hours, Associated Bank, 6-8 p.m. - Muskego Chamber of Commerce welcomes members and invites interested businesses that are not already part of the most dynamic business organization in Southeastern Wisconsin for a little social networking.

"To Be" at the 7 p.m. - Shakespeare comes alive and makes audiences a little less intimidated by the Bard, using audience participation and a bit of humor along the way.

Thursday, May 16

Muskego High School's Project Lead the Way Presentation, 11:15 a.m. and 6 p.m., room 243 at the high school. View the projects created by our youngest engineers presented in a trade show format.

Muskego Police Department Awards Ceremony, 7 p.m., Muskego City Hall - officers and citizens alike are recognize for their service, dedication and bravery

Friday, May 17 - Sunday, May 19 - Hawthorne Hill Farm, New Berlin Vintage Cottage Style market (1st of the year),  10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; located on 16370 W. Small Road, just over the Muskego border, this 1873 farmstead opens its doors only a few times a year for shopping markets, so take advantage of the old style ambiance and snag a few great finds in the process. 

Saturday, May 18

Odyssey of the Mind Flower Sale, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., Paul's Petal Pushers locations at Piggly Wiggly in Muskego and their greenhouse location in Waterford at 28058 N. Lake Drive; help the team get to National competition in Michigan 

, 7 - 10 p.m. - the Friends of the Muskego Public Library present their annual affair, featuring a selection of wines, food sampling and new this year, beers from near and far. A great evening to support a huge community resource, all for just $30.

Sunday, May 19

Pancake Breakfast, 7 a.m.- 12 p.m.;St. Leonard's Knights of Columbus serve up the pancakes starting at 7 a.m. Stop in the school cafeteria to enjoy fellowship and flapjacks.

St. Clare Street Fair,  Wind Lake, 7616 Fritz Street; flea market finds, live music, food and beverages return to Wind Lake
