Pig Roast Saturday at Veterans Park — For a Cause
After beating cancer, a local family is trying to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Bob and Kim Bohman hope to help find a cure for blood cancers with a pig roast fundraiser Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park, W182 S8200 Racine Ave.
The Bohman family has a reason to make leukemia and lymphoma their cause: Bob's grandmother, Marcella, died of leukemia eight years before he was born, and in 2006, Bob was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
The discovery came while his wife was pregnant with the couple's first baby, and fears of leaving them behind swirled in his head. But following three months of chemotherapy and 20 rounds of radiation, doctors told him the cancer was in remission.
Now, the family is hoping to raise $4,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in its quest for find a cure for blood cancer.
The event begins at 2 p.m. with refreshments and games. Dinner by Bubb's BBQ is served from 4 to 6 p.m., with prizes to be awarded after that.
Attendees can visit the Bohman's team page to register, which must be done by Tuesday.
