Special Olympics Run Will Kick Off Events on May 4

Regional track and field competition returns on Saturday, May 4 to Muskego High School, and will include a torch run along Muskego roads to open the ceremonies.

The streets of Muskego will feature some great athletic talent and spirit in the morning hours of Satuday, May 4 as the Special Olympics region 8 competition will return for a second year in a row.

The torch run will begin at the Muskego Police Department and City Hall complex and head north on Racine Avenue, beginning at 7:30 a.m. Runners will then turn west on Janesville Road to Woods Road, near the county park, and take Woods to Muskego High School.

The event draws hundreds of athletes, their families and coaches and the public is urged to come out and cheer on the athletes for the run as well as all of the track and field events, which start around 8 a.m.

For the torch run, which will kick off the opening ceremonies, Muskego Police have said that there will be a "rolling road block" for the duration, so if you have plans to be out and about in that area, please be aware.
