Warrriors' Season Ends With Playoff Loss to New Berlin West

The Warriors baseball team's dreams of the state tournament birth ended Monday night with a loss in the sectional final.

After an upset victory over Oak Creek earlier in the day Monday, the Muskego baseball team's season came to an end hours later with a 3-2 loss to New Berlin West in a WIAA sectional semifinal.

The loss came after the fourth-seeded Warriors defeated No. 1 seed Oak Creek in an extra-inning game the sectional semifinal at Whitnall High School.

However, the team was unable to keep the momentum, falling to No. 2 seed New Berlin West in the final.

A nail-bitter throughout, the Warriors entered the sixth inning trailing 2-1, but picked up a run in the top of the sixth, according to WisSports.net.

Tied at two runs in the top of the seventh, the Warriors were threatening with a man in scoring position, but the rally was killed by an inning-ending double play, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

New Berlin West would secure a trip to state with a walk-off single in the bottom half.  

Muskego managed only two hits, while Warriors pitchers allowed eight, WisSports.net reported. 

New Berlin West (24-5) will face Kettle Moraine at 3:15 p.m. Friday in a state semifinal at Kapco Park.
