New Berlin Police Officer Retires After 30 Years On The Force
Officer Joe Lofy retired from the New Berlin Police Department on New Year's Day.
NEW BERLIN, WI— A longtime police officer is starting 2021 as a retired person. Officer Joe Lofy retired from the New Berlin Police Department on New Year's Day, according to police.
Before becoming a police officer, Lofy worked his way up through the ranks. He first served as a dispatcher with the Wauwatosa Police Department, a dispatcher and reserve officer with the Brookfield Police Department and as a dispatcher with the Waukesha Police Department for four years.
Lofy was then hired as a police officer in 1990 by the Shorewood Police Department. In 2002, he was hired as a police officer for the New Berlin Police Department.

Between Shorewood and New Berlin, Lofy has a total of 30 years of service.
He was also an acting detective with New Berlin police, a team leader for the fire investigation unit and was knowledgeable in investigative skills like sketch artistry and crime scene processing. He was also an active member of the police force's bike patrol and honor guard for many years.

"During his 19 years with the New Berlin Police Department, Joe was a consistent team player. His co-workers will miss his enthusiasm, his camaraderie, and his laughter. Congrats Joe for your 34 years of professional commitment to law enforcement and the communities you have served," Jeff Hingiss, New Berlin Police Chief said in a post.
