New Berlin Police Sergeant Retires After 33 Years
Sgt. Troy Hendriksen started his career as a police cadet in 1988 and moved up in the ranks.

NEW BERLIN, WI— New Berlin Police announced the retirement of Sgt. Troy Hendriksen, who retired on Tuesday after serving the City of New Berlin Police Department for 33 years.
Hendriksen began his career as a police cadet in 1988 and rose through the ranks to police officer in 1989, according to the New Berlin Facebook page. He was promoted to corporal in 1997 and sergeant in 2001.
Hendriksen wore many hats during his time at the NBPD, as a training sergeant, field training officer, EMT, defense and arrest tactics instructor, firearms instructor, SWAT operator, SWAT team leader and team leader for the Suburban Critical Incident Team.

"Troy was instrumental in the merging of three SWAT teams and nine police departments into the S.C.I.T. in 2013, which is now one of the largest tactical teams in the state," the post said.
He participated off duty on the police department's softball, volleyball and football teams, the Torch Run for Special Olympics and hosted many of the department's ice fishing outings.

"His leadership and dedication to officer safety and training were unparalleled," the post said.
Hendriksen's three sons have all followed in their Dad's footsteps, Nick and Erik Hendriksen with Waukesha Police Department and Will Hendriksen with New Berlin.
"They will continue the fine Hendriksen law enforcement legacy in Waukesha County. We wish him the best of luck in the next chapter of his life. Have a long, happy and healthy retirement Troy," the post said.
