Kurth, Seidl Lead In New Berlin School Board Election

NEW BERLIN, WI—Incumbent Jeffrey Kurth and challenger Ron Seidl lead in the New Berlin School Board race.

Voters in New Berlin headed to the polls Tuesday for the 2021 election, casting ballots for several races, including the New Berlin School Board. Two seats are open for school board members to be elected.

Jeffrey Kurth (Incumbent) 4,080 votes

Ron Seidl 4,172 votes

Ray Schaffart 2,672 votes

Below are the candidates who were on the ballot Tuesday:

Jeffrey Kurth (Inc.)

He ran for election to share his “passion for learning” with the community and on behalf of his daughters. He wants to continue to “help lead and shape our district into delivering excellence.” He said what sets him apart from his challengers is being a nine year member of the current school board.

"I bring historical insight to all the major projects that have been going on within the district and all the advancements that we have made. I have a great focus to maintain that our curriculums are suited for everyone," he said.

Scott Jentsch

After years of experience participating in School Board meetings as a member of the public, he can effect greater change by serving on the School Board. Getting involved in making things better is important, and it's imperative for good people to stand up and serve, especially at the local level.

Ron Seidl

A former 3rd District Alderman from 2007- 2019. Two years ago he voted against a referendum that was on the ballot. He didn't support the referendum because he believed the district could find cost savings within their operating budget through fiscal responsible decision making.

"I wanted to be part of the solution and volunteered on the School Budget Task Force. As I predicted the district successfully balanced the budget and is moving forward with a strategic plan for long range facility needs and paying down debt without closing schools or cutting programs. "

Ray Schaffart

As an involved dad in the New Berlin school district, he has been unhappy with the direction of the school board the last several years.

"After watching hundreds of hours of board meetings, witnessing what seemed like crisis after crisis, I felt it was time to step in. I want to improve the board and shape it in a manner that I would enjoy seeing as a parent, teacher, student, and taxpayer in the district."
