NEW BERLIN, WI—The School District of New Berlin has announced high school graduation plans.

  • Both graduations will be held in the New Berlin West Fieldhouse
  • West's graduation will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 11, and Eisenhower's will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 12," Cotey said.

Cotey explained moving Eisenhower's ceremony to West was the result of space and capacity concerns. Eisenhower's interior spaces, including its gym (where graduation has been held in the past) are not large enough to host the event the size of graduation during a pandemic safely and in a socially distanced manner/

The district wanted to host the event indoors because in the past, outdoor graduations at Eisenhower have endured high winds and hot temperatures, not to mention the threat of rain.

"In the past, we've typically held the graduations the same day, but in order to allow us to clean the fieldhouse and decorate / convert the space to reflect each school's respective colors, mascot, etc., holding them on separate days was necessary," he told Patch.

The School District of New Berlin also set tentative prom dates for New Berlin West High School and New Berlin Eisenhower High School.

New Berlin West's tentative plan is to host its event Friday, May 14, while Eisenhower's is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, May 15.
