Person Critical After Being Shot By Officer In New Berlin: WI DOJ

The Wisconsin DOJ said a person was critically injured during a shooting after police responded to a report of a person with a gun.

NEW BERLIN, WI — A man is in critical condition after being shot by a police officer in New Berlin Tuesday night, according to the Wisconsin Department of Justice.

Around 10 p.m., dispatch got a call about a person with a gun in the 400o block of South Moorland Road.

New Berlin police officers responded and confronted the person, the DOJ said. At some point, an officer fired their gun and struck the person who is in critical condition at the hospital, DOJ officials said.

No officers were injured.

The officer who fired their weapon is on administrative leave.

The investigation is being led by the DOJ's criminal investigative division and the investigative report will be turned over to the Waukesha County District Attorney's Office when the investigation ends.
