Walmart Customer Picks Up $800 Tab For New Berlin Police Officer
The officer was purchasing gift cards for families in need.
NEW BERLIN, WI—New Berlin Police said they continue to be humbled by community support this holiday season. Due to the pandemic, the annual "Shop with a Cop" event had to be canceled.
"We still felt like we needed to spread cheer and joy for some of our families in New Berlin that have been impacted financially this year," the police Facebook post said.
Earlier this week a New Berlin officer went to Walmart to purchase over $800 in gift cards for these families.

"Before our officer could complete the sale, a random citizen (wishing to remain anonymous) interrupted the cashier and paid the entire bill, without even knowing our cause or the reason for our purchase! We are grateful for the generosity and extremely thankful for the support from our citizens," the post said.
This year New Berlin Police Department was able to facilitate the gifting of nearly $3,000 in gift cards to economically less fortunate children in New Berlin. This was done with financial donations from Walmart, Pepsi, and several New Berlin Citizens, the post said.
