Woman Rescued After Being Beaten In Ditch: New Berlin Police
The victim told New Berlin Police she believed that she would have been killed if they had not intervened.
NEW BERLIN, WI—New Berlin Police Department highlighted on Facebook some of the work they did recently.
On Saturday, April 24th at about 6:30 p.m., police responded to the report of a man beating a woman in a ditch on the far northeast corner of the city. As officers responded to the area, the caller added that the man had driven away and left the female battered in the ditch. The man quickly came back and began striking the victim in the head again, before forcing her into his car, according to the New Berlin Police.
Officers from New Berlin and the Town of Brookfield arrived in the area and located the car heading west on Greenfield Avenue, about to leave the city, police said.

The car fled onto Hwy 164, and a pursuit ensued. The care then turned to go east on I-94, then north on Hwy 175. The car eventually got off the freeway and struck a building in the area of 51st and Capitol, police said.
As the suspect tried to back up the car and flee, a New Berlin officer was able to pin his vehicle in to keep it from continuing on. No one was injured in the crash, and a 35-year-old Milwaukee man was taken into custody, police said.

Charges were referred out to the Waukesha County D.A.'s office for Felony Eluding, Aggravated Battery, False Imprisonment, First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, a probation violation, Second Offense OWI, Resisting/Obstructing and Operating After Revocation.
The female victim was transported to the hospital for head injuries from the battery.
"She thanked officers for continuing the pursuit and told them she believed that she would have been killed if we had not intervened," New Berlin Police said.
Other police work noted
On Wednesday, May 5th, at 12:45 a.m., third shift arrested a 58-year-old Milwaukee woman for fifth-offense OWI.
On Wednesday, May 5th, at 7:46 a.m., day shift officers assisted the State Patrol, after one of their troopers reported that a driver sped away from a traffic stop and fled south on Moorland Road from Greenfield Avenue. The trooper lost sight of the car and New Berlin officers did not locate him in the area, police said.
One New Berlin officer did some investigating on his squad computer and found out that the owner of the fleeing car worked at a business in one of New Berlin's industrial parks. Officers located the car in the parking lot and were able to enter the business and take the 39-year-old Mukwonago man into custody, before turning him over to the State Patrol, police said.
On Wednesday, May 5th at 1:13 p.m., day shift officers assisted the Town of East Troy after we received a report of a road rage incident that turned into one person pointing a gun at another person while driving, police said.
"We learned that the suspect was headed north on I-43 into New Berlin and located him near Moorland Road. We were assisted by a deputy from the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department as we conducted a high risk stop on I-43 near Sunnyslope Road," police said.
After a short time, the suspect, a 29 year-old Beloit man, was taken into custody and a handgun was recovered in his car. He was turned over to East Troy., police said.
"As you can see, many of these calls require teamwork among several different police agencies in order for the incident to come to a successful conclusion. These are just four of the hundreds of calls that we've responded to in the last couple of weeks," police said.
