How Far of a Walk is it to the Moon?
A man walking on railroad tracks in Port Washington in the middle of the night told police he was hoping to walk the distance to the moon.

This Port Washington resident put a whole new spin on a late night summer walk.
Port Washington police were called 3:07 a.m. Aug. 28 after a man was spotted walking on the railroad tracks near Maritime Drive and South Spring Street, according to police reports.
Officers responded and found the man walking the tracks, the report said. The man told police he was attempting to walk the distance to the moon, and was 1/4 mile in on his journey.

The average distance to the moon is about 238,855 miles, according to Nasa.gov.
