Police Squad Totaled in Saturday Crashes that Injured 5
As officers investigated a serious crash on I-41, the driver of a pickup truck struck their police squad, totaling the vehicle.

WISCONSIN -- Authorities encourage drivers on U.S. Highways to "move over" to give officers more space when they make traffic stops, as more than 150 U.S. law enforcement officers have been killed since 1999 after being struck by vehicles along America's highways.
A dangerous situation unfolded in Wisconsin Saturday after the driver of a pickup truck struck a parked police squad after officers were called to investigate a serious crash on I-41.
Early Saturday morning, police officers were called to investigate a two-vehicle rollover crash on I-41 southbound at College Ave. While investigating the crash, a southbound pickup truck entered the crash scene and struck a parked and unoccupied Grand Chute police vehicle.

As a result of this second crash, I-41 southbound was completely shut down for two hours. Following the second crash, officers from the Appleton Police Department, Winnebago County Sheriff's Department, Outagamie County Sheriff's Department, Grand Chute Fire Department and Fox Crossing Fire Department responded to assist.
The first crash, which was investigated by Grand Chute officers, resulted in four persons being transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Outagamie County Sheriff's Department is investigating the second crash involving the pickup truck and Grand Chute squad car. As a result of this crash, a passenger of the pickup was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. No officers were injured.
