Port Fish Day Kicks Off Saturday

Fish fry anyone? Here's a full rundown of Fish Day festivities from the morning run/walk to the evening fireworks.

The “world’s largest one day outdoor fish fry” is just around the bend.

Locals and outsiders alike will reel in entertainment, a basket of fish and chips and a cold one on Saturday for the 49th annual Fish Day celebration.

Festivities kick off at 8 a.m. with an 8k run and 2-mile fun run and end with a 9:30 p.m. fireworks show over Lake Michigan. Follow the link above for Fish Day walk/run registration details.

The Fish Day parade kicks off at 10 a.m. starting at Wisconsin Street and Walters Street, running along Hwy 32 to City Hall, 100 W. Grand Ave. Festival grounds, with free admission, and fish and chip stands also open at 10 a.m.

Take in a car show in Upper Lake Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; the arts and crafts fair will be held in the same park, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Additionally the Fish Day carnival opens at 10 a.m. along with helicopter rides.

Enjoy some tunes when music stages open at 10:30 a.m. Check out the lineup here.

Then cool off with the soccer water fights starting at 3 p.m. Put on by the Port Washington Fire Department, children get soaked while trying to push a soccer ball into a goal. Registration opens at 2:30 p.m.

Proceeds from Fish Day are put back into the community via several civic organizations, scholarships, recreational programs, assistance for people who have met life-challenging problems, Scout troops, among other groups, according to the event's website.
