Port Washington's Beach Picks Badgers

Talented Lineman weighed playing for Notre Dame before ultimately picking Wisconsin.

PORT WASHINGTON — Big news (literally) out of Madison this recruiting season, as Port Washington's Tyler Beach has made his commitment to play for the Wisconsin Badgers football team.

The lineman from Port Washington said he had been leaning towards Notre Dame heading into his trip to Madison on Thursday but announced his commitment to UW just three days later.

“I guess just being able to see the other side of football, like the academics portion,” Beach said of changing his decision in an article published by the Wisconsin State Journal. "I know how great football is (at UW). I guess I just needed to see how great academics were in order to be complete in my decision."

According to a report by Bucky's Fifth Quarter, Head coach Paul Chryst and the Wisconsin coaching staff secured Beach's verbal over the likes of Michigan, Notre Dame, Syracuse and Illinois, who all offered, along with Oregon State and Missouri.

Beach stands 6'6" and weighs 280 lbs. and joins a tradition of Wisconsin offensive line players ... many who have enjoyed success in the N.F.L.
