The 100 Safest Municipalities in Wisconsin: A Waukesha Village is Number One.

12 Waukesha County municipalities made Wisconsin's top 100. Two were ranked among the top 50 safest in the U.S. Find out which ones.

The Niche.com 2016 Safest Places to Live ranking provides a comprehensive assessment of the overall safety at the municipal level.

The village of North Prairie in Waukesha County was rated as the safest community in Wisconsin in 2015.

This tiny village, of approximately 3 square miles and population of 2,284 saw 0 violent crime over the past year and 4 property crimes and 6 reported thefts during the reporting period used to generate the Niche.com rankings.

Other Waukesha municipalities made the top 100 as well, including Eagle (2), Summit (15), Muskego (19), Delafield (23), Elm Grove (26), Hartland (28), Big Bend (33), Menomonee Falls (36), Pewaukee (53), Mukwonago (62) and Brookfield (74).

The City of Waukesha comes in just out of the top 100, and the Village of Sussex was unranked.:

Niche.com rankings take into account key indicators of a location’s safety, including violent and property crime rates, in an attempt to measure an area’s safety and security.

Niche.com also weighed several factors, including the numbers of assaults, robberies, murders, burglaries, vehicle thefts and property thefts per 100,000 residents from data obtained through the FBI's Uniform Crime Reports.
