Clover Drive Closure For Bridge Replacement Over Sussex Creek

Construction on the Clover Drive bridge will cause road closures starting July 9th.

(Village of Sussex)

From the Village of Sussex: The Village has hired a contractor to replace the Clover Drive bridge over Sussex Creek. The bridge is located near Spring Green Park and the Municipal Garage. The bottoms of the corrugated metal culverts under the road are rusting out and have deteriorated to the point that they need to be replaced. A new three-sided box culvert with a natural bottom, similar to the bridge installed under Main Street near the Civic Campus, will be installed in their place. The new design is environmentally friendly, with an open channel concrete arch structure to allow fish and animals to traverse under the roadway while also allowing more efficient stormwater flow.

The project is scheduled to start around July 8, 2019, and will continue through September. The contractor will need to close the road at the bridge for six weeks to complete this work starting Tuesday, July 9, weather pending. During this closure, traffic will not be able to cross Sussex Creek east-west on Clover Drive.

The contractors may work Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please note that the road will be closed at all times during the six week closure, even when the crews aren’t working.
