The Village of Sussex seeks a full-time Wastewater Operator for its grade 4 regional treatment facility. Wastewater utility work includes plant maintenance, lab work, lift station maintenance, collection system maintenance, response to sewer backups and more. Wastewater Operators are responsible for a wide variety of tasks, including street maintenance, stormwater utility, water utility, snow plowing, and special projects. All Public Works Employees are expected to assist in all the identified areas; however, the majority of time for this position will be spent working for the wastewater utility. Weekend on-call rotation is required.

Experience in wastewater plant operations, lab work, and equipment maintenance is required. Possession of a valid Wisconsin “Advanced” wastewater operator certification in subclasses: A1, B, C, P, D, SS, and L is preferred. The successful candidate must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License, as well as a Class A CDL and tanker endorsement, or be able to obtain within six months of hire.
The starting wage is $23.38–$32.54, DOQ. The Village offers a competitive benefits package including insurance (health, dental and life) and participates in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) and more.
