"We would all like to say thank you to all of our guests for their support over the years; as well as for becoming part of our 2nd families. Thank you to all of the staff, past and present (including those not pictured). We will all miss everything from the building, those who entered it, the drinks, the food.....new adventures here we come!"
Brenton Schrader, vice president for retail leasing and marketing at HSA Commercial Real Estate, which developed Mayfair Collection, told Patch it was a very competitive restaurant landscape even before the pandemic.
Schrader said it was the combination of the existing competition, occupancy restrictions, and decline in dine-in business because of the pandemic that became too much to bear for the Phoenix Hospitality Group (operator of ABV, El Jefe, and Cafe Grace).
"Like most restaurant operators, it was an awfully tough year for them," Schrader said.
Schrader said he remains optimistic about the potential to emerge from the crisis "with a reinvigorated restaurant line-up that we are hopeful will excite our customers and on-site residents."
He told Patch there is a replacement lined up for the ABV space that customers and neighbors will love and an announcement will be made within the next two weeks.
