Brazilian Steakhouse To Replace McCormick & Schmick's At Mayfair

Brazilian steakhouses feature all-you-can-eat meat on large skewers served by gaucho-inspired servers with swords.

WAUWATOSA - Pending approval of a conditional use permit, Brazilian steakhouse Texas de Brazil plans to open a location in the former site McCormick & Schmick's seafood restaurant at Mayfair, which closed in July.

Texas de Brazil models other similar restaurants, like Rodizio Grill in downtown Milwaukee, and features all-you-can-eat rotisserie meats like seasoned pork, beef, chicken, lamb, and sausages on large skewers served by men who constantly swarm the restaurant, carving the meats with swords tableside. In a fun interactive twist, each diner receives a coaster-style card with red or green on either side. Turn your card to green to indicate to the servers that you are ready for more meat.

The restaurant also features an impressive salad bar with a number of fresh vegetables, soups and salads, along with house-baked Brazilian cheese bread.

Meals are $45 for all-you-can-eat meat and salad bar, and $25 for just the salad bar.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, this would be the first location in Wisconsin for Texas de Brazil, which has restaurants in 16 states nationwide, along with the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and five other countries internationally.

The permit request goes to the Tosa Plan Commission on April 10 for dinner service only. If there is a demand, the restaurant has requested to open for lunch in the future.
