Community Leaders Join Medical College of Wis. Board of Trustees
The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) recently welcomed two new trustees to its board: Christy L. Brown, JD, and John M. Grogan.
The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) recently welcomed two new trustees to its board: Christy L. Brown, JD, and John M. Grogan.
The MCW Board of Trustees provides strategic direction to support the institution’s four core missions: patient care, education, research and community engagement. The elected members of the board are business executives, philanthropists and distinguished community leaders who pool their wealth of knowledge and experience to advance these missions to enhance the health and vitality of our community.
John M. Grogan is Executive Vice President, Chief Product and Innovation Officer for Northwestern Mutual. Grogan serves on the company’s senior leadership team with overall leadership responsibility for Northwestern’s insurance businesses and the company’s innovation strategy. He also serves on the boards of Marquette University High School and LIMRA/LOMA Global. Grogan is a graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and of the Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago. He also completed the Kellogg Management Institute at Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Christy L. Brown, JD is the chief executive officer of Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast, providing strategic leadership for more than 34,000 members. Brown is a director for the Northwestern Mutual Series Fund, Inc. and a trustee at Carroll University in Waukesha. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University in Stanford, California, and a Master of Arts degree and Juris Doctor from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She also received a certificate in strategic nonprofit management from Harvard Business School’s executive education program.

About the Medical College of Wisconsin
With a history dating back to 1893, The Medical College of Wisconsin is dedicated to leadership and excellence in education, patient care, research and community engagement. More than 1,400 students are enrolled in MCW’s medical school and graduate school programs in Milwaukee, Green Bay and Central Wisconsin. MCW’s School of Pharmacy opened in 2017. A major national research center, MCW is the largest research institution in the Milwaukee metro area and second largest in Wisconsin. In the last ten years, faculty received more than $1.5 billion in external support for research, teaching, training and related purposes. This total includes highly competitive research and training awards from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Annually, MCW faculty direct or collaborate on more than 3,100 research studies, including clinical trials. Additionally, more than 1,600 physicians provide care in virtually every specialty of medicine for more than $2.8 million patients annually.
