Donors Needed At Blood Drive In Wauwatosa This Weekend

Dick's Blood Drive and Wauwatosa Catholic School seek blood donors to help more than 200 local patients.

WAUWATOSA, WI — A Wauwatosa religious community will hold a blood drive this weekend and is seeking donors.

Dick's Blood Drive seeks 85 donors to give blood at St. Bernard's Parish Gym, 7474 Harwood Ave., from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. St. Pius X Parish Community will host the event, according to the event page.

The blood drive could help more than 255 local patients, and organizers need 85 people to lend an arm, organizers said.

Donors and their guests will be served brats and hot dogs, organizers said. Every donor will receive an online code for a general admission ticket for Summerfest, they added.

Organizers encouraged potential donors to sign up online or call the Versiti Blood Center at 877-232-4376.

The blood center asked people to wait two days between receiving their COVID-19 vaccine and donating, according to an event flyer. People who received a vaccine can still donate blood, platelets and plasma, the American Red Cross said.
