Firefly Art Fair Takes Center Stage This Weekend

Victorian gardens will be filled with artists, more than 90 of them, and you can also tour the Kneeland-Walker House itself and see a special exhibit.

A grand old Victorian manse surrounded by beautiful gardens, and lots and lots of art (and artifacts).

That's the 27th annual Firefly Art Fair, coming Saturday and Sunday at the Kneeland-Walker House, headquarters of the Wauwatosa Historical Society, where the setting is as gorgeous as the exhibit offerings.

The Firefly is one of the premier outdoor art festivals in greater Milwaukee presenting more than 90 juried artists, representing an eclectic array of art from a variety of media.

A list of participating artists is posted on the Wauwatosa Historical Society website.

The fair is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, with $4 admission, children younger than 12 free. The house and grounds are at 7406 Hillcrest Drive.

Admission gets you not only unlimited roaming of the exhibits, spread through the spacious gardens, but also a chance to traipse through the Kneeland-Walker House, which is typically open only for limited, scheduled tours.

There's even a special show inside the era-restored home for those who appreciate Victorian elegance – "Teapot Memories," featuring tea sets and tea table settings, and including one with a very special story.

Food, drink and entertainment are also features of the Firefly Art Fair. The weather forecast is for temperatures in the low- to mid-70s with a chance of a little rain Saturday, mostly sunny Sunday.

Principal sponsors of the Firefly Art Fair are Firefly Real Estate, North Shore Bank and Outpost Natural Foods. Supporters include Sprecher Brewing, Leff's Luckytown and Cranky Al's Bakery & Pizza.
