Girl's Lemonade Stand To Fight Cancer In Honor Of Lost Brother

Avery Aldrich has been hosting lemonade stands ever since her brother died of cancer in 2009, and has raised over $4,300 for cancer research

WAUWATOSA, WI — The 2018 Memorial Day weekend is supposed to be a hot one, so why not try warming your heart and that of a little Wauwatosa girl by biking, running, hiking or driving to Avery's Lemonade Stand in East Tosa for an afternoon pick-me-up.

In a continuing effort to raise funds and awareness for the fight against childhood cancer, Avery Aldrich and her family are hosting their annual lemonade stand on Sunday, June 3 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at their home in Wauwatosa.

It's the fifth straight year Avery has set up her lemonade stand in honor of her brother Jakob Aldrich, who passed away from rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer, in 2009. Avery has been hosting lemonade stands ever since and has raised over $4,300, which funds almost two weeks of childhood cancer research.

“Our event is simple,” said Jennifer Aldrich, Jakob and Avery’s mom. “We pitch a tent in front of our house and invite everyone we know via Facebook, Instagram and word of mouth.”

The Aldrich family hopes to raise another $500 for childhood cancer research. For more information or to donate, please visit Avery’s 5th Annual Lemonade Stand fundraising page.
