Malt Shoppe Beer Shop To Close Its Doors In April

The unique business offers 30 beers on tap, growlers, bottled beer, and glassware.

WAUWATOSA - The Malt Shoppe, 813 N. Mayfair Road, which labels itself "a boutique beer store designed for beer lovers, by beer lovers" will close its doors this month.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, owner Patrick Lafferty said the store's last day is official Saturday, April 15, but he hopes to be closed by April 8.

Opened in 2014, the store had 30 beers on tap, and offered growlers, bottled beer from singles to six-packs, and glassware.

Lafferty didn't give specifics as to why the store closed, although a World of Beer opened the same year across the street from the Malt Shoppe.

The Malt Shoppe is offering 30% off domestic brews and 50% off imports until its closing. Saturday, April 1, only, the store is having a special going-out-of-business sale, with 50% off everything in the store, plus an extra 20% off imports, and $1 for all $5 glassware.

Items from its beer cellar collection will be auctioned off from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 22. Tickets are $50 and will be replaced with a $50 gift card at the auction. Seating is limited to 40 people and tickets are available at brownpapertickets.com.

New store hours until closing are noon to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, and closed Sundays and Mondays.
