New Part of Hart Park May Get its Bathrooms in 2014

Need a potty break at Hart Park? A lot of people have been asking for one, and the city is moving toward it.

If all goes well, relief will come to those who yearn for a restroom at the playground or at events at Hart Park's new east-side attractions.

A splendid new playground and the Rotary Performance Pavilion have proved popular attractions, but, well, there was no place to... go.

The Hart Park plan always called for a rest stop not far away from the playground and the music stage, but funding had been put off.

A measure in front of the Common Council's Budget and Finance Committee on Tuesday night will determine whether there will be ample places to go potty at the park.

Engberg Anderson Inc. will present a plan and ask for about $45,000 in design dollars to make a bathroom and picnic pavilion possible between the playground and the music venue.

The money is not new: It's about ch-ch-changes the city has decided on.

The bathroom stop will be expanded, according to the city's request, and a proposed concession area dropped, based on perceived needs for the park.

Engberg Anderson will redesign the proposed park pavilion under the new $45,000 contract, assuming the measure passes.

Infrastructure to allow for a bathroom and shelter, as well as for lighting around the Rotary stage, was included and installed earlier, per the master plan for Hart Park.
