Ollie Up for National Go Skateboarding Day

Do you need an excuse to go skateboarding? Yes. You can help Tosa teens and tweens realize their dream of a safe and legal place to skate and bike.

Tosa Skateboarders United encourages everyone to get on board – in fact, get on a board – Friday for National Go Skateboarding Day.

Here in Wauwatosa, if you go to Noodles & Co., Yo Mama Frozen Yogurt or Leff's Lucky Town on Friday and spend something, part of the proceeds will go to help TSU build its long-wanted skateboard park in Hart Park.

TSU is finally coming close to that goal after a decade of dreaming. The Wauwatosa Common Council was poised Tuesday night to approve spending $80,000 to support the park, after Mike and Judy Doyle pledged $80,000 of their own money.

All that remains is for citizens to step up with about $45,000 more. TSU has raised nearly $35,000 over the years, and the cost of the park as now conceived is about $240,000.

You can find out more or donate by visiting the TSU website.
