Although we plan five years ahead, we focus most on the projects in the upcoming year.

What are some of the proposed 2021 projects?

  • We're proposing to repave 68th St between Milwaukee Avenue and State St.
  • With the City of Milwaukee, we're proposing to repave 60th St south of Vliet and an alley.
  • We're proposing to reconstruct Portland Avenue to coincide with the opening of the newly reconstructed Wilson School.
  • Our annual sidewalk program addresses all sidewalk (5 million square feet) in the City of Wauwatosa. We repair sidewalks on a 10 year cycle.
  • There are funds set aside in 2021 for a space needs analysis and preliminary design and budgeting exercise related to the Civic Center, Library, and City Hall.
  • The City's Sustainability Committee has recommended a goal of reducing the city's energy consumption, so in 2021, we're proposing to install solar panels on City Hall to offset about 40-50% of the energy used. (We've already seen success with solar panels on Public Works' building.)
