Tosa Asking For Public Questions In Search For New Police Chief

WAUWATOSA, WI — The Wauwatosa Police and Fire Commission is asking the public to submit potential interview questions online for candidates for Wauwatosa Police Chief.

The citizen-led commission is preparing for a virtual public forum with final candidates for police chief. Residents are being asked to submit their questions online before June 7.

"Transparency and public engagement in this process are very important to us. We encourage you to submit your questions and view the final candidates’ interviews,” commission president Dominic Leone said.

The finalists' names will be released ahead of the public forum, according to a city statement. The forum is scheduled for June 14 and the police and fire commission will meet on June 23.

The police and fire commission will select a limited amount of questions for future interviews and questions will be reviewed by Wauwatosa Human Affairs for compliance with equal employment laws, according to the city

Wauwatosa Police Capt. Luke Vetter was announced for interim police chief on Friday in place of Chief Barry Weber, who leaves on June 1.
