Tosa Police Believe Fatal I-41 Crash Related To Best Buy Theft
A man who was struck and killed on Interstate 41 on Thursday night is believed to have been a retail theft suspect who was fleeing police.
WAUWATOSA, WI—A man who was struck and killed on Interstate 41 on Thursday night is believed to have been a retail theft suspect who was fleeing Wauwatosa police officers, according to a news release from police.
Around 6:40 p.m. on Thursday, the Wauwatosa Police Department responded to a retail theft from Best Buy, 2401 N. Mayfair Rd. Prior to arriving at the store, officers found a car that matched the description of car in connection to the theft, the release said.
According to police, the car turned into a neighborhood near the Wauwatosa Police Department and was found stopped a short time later. As officers approached the car, a man ran from it. Two other people were detained at the scene.

As officers began to look for the man who ran, they were notified by the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office of a pedestrian that was struck by a car on Interstate 41 near West North Ave, in the area where he was last seen running, the release said.
Positive identification of the man who was struck is still pending, but at this time police believe the two incidents are related. The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash on the freeway, the release said.
