Tosa’s 6th-Annual All-City Read program Announced

Workshops cover a variety of topics, from pandemics and survival skills to music, Shakespeare and graphic note-taking.

WAUWATOSA, WI -- The Neighborhood Association Council of Wauwatosa has announced its schedule of events to celebrate the sixth-annual Tosa’s All-City Read program. The events complement the book chosen for residents of Wauwatosa to read and discuss in February: “Station Eleven” by author Emily St. John Mandel.

This year, the NAC has received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts/Arts
Midwest to bring the author to Wauwatosa for “A Conversation with Emily St. John
Mandel” at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, at the CelticMKE Center. For this year,
Tosa’s All-City Read will also be known as NEA Big Read Tosa.

The NAC has planned a variety of free events to get as many neighbors involved in the
All-City Read as possible. Those events include:

• Saturday, February 9: Avoiding the Next Pandemic with infectious disease
specialists Joyce Sanchez, MD and Mary Beth Graham, MD from Froedtert and the
Medical College of Wisconsin at the Kneeland-Walker House at 1:30 p.m.

• Sunday, February 10: An Introduction to Foraging with Kyle Denton of Tippecanoe
Herbs at the Kneeland-Walker House at 1:30 p.m.

• Tuesday, February 12: Pandemic Game Night at Mathnasium of Wauwatosa at 6:30
p.m. Registration required by emailing wauwatosa@mathnasium.com.

• Saturday, February 16: Survivor: Tosa! Find out if you and your friends are the
ultimate survivors after fun mental and physical challenges, held at Lincoln Elementary
School.

• Sunday, February 17: Outdoor Emergency Survival with REI at the Wauwatosa
Library Firefly Room at 1:30 p.m.

• Saturday, February 23: Acting with Shakespeare with the Summit Players at the
Tosa Library at 2 p.m. Enjoy theatre games, learn a bit about developing character, and
work together to bring a little Shakespeare to life.

• Sunday, February 24: A Conversation with Emily St. John Mandel and WUWM
Lake Effect host Mitch Teich at 1:30 p.m. at the CelticMKE Center. A book signing will
follow the event.

• Tuesday, February 26: Sketch-noting Workshop at the Tosa Library at 6:30
p.m. Visual thinking helps you practice listening, become adept at synthesizing content
and big ideas, and increase learning and memory. For students 12+ and adults.

opportunity to discuss the book are invited to join one of 10 free, public book
