Wauwatosa Ave. Construction To Wrap Up Later This Summer: City
Wauwatosa officials said construction crews are scheduled to remove remaining pavement on Melrose Ave. and Rogers Ave.

WAUWATOSA, WI — Wauwatosa Ave. is on track to open in late August or early September, but Melrose Ave. and Rogers Ave. will have additional work following the Wauwatosa Ave. project, city officials said this week.
Wauwatosa officials said construction crews are continuing to replace curbs and gutters on Wauwatosa Ave. between Melrose Ave. and Kenwood Ave., working their way north over the next two weeks.

City officials said people who live along this road will "generally have access to their driveway during this work unless the crew is directly in front of their driveway. If the contractor is replacing curb in front of your driveways you will lose access to your driveway for a few days and will be provided parking passes to park on adjacent streets."
Paving of Wauwatosa Ave. will likely start in two to three weeks, and Wauwatosa officials said construction crews are on-target to reopen Wauwatosa Ave. in late August or early September.

One thing to look out for, city officials said, is there will be a time when residents will not have access to their driveway as the concrete base patch cures. During asphalt paving, access will be regained once the asphalt has cooled, which takes a few hours.
Wauwatosa officials said construction crews are scheduled to remove remaining pavement on Melrose Ave. and Rogers Ave. later this week, which will be compacted gravel.
"The contractor will likely pave these two streets after they pave Wauwatosa Ave., so these streets will not be fully open at the same time that Wauwatosa Ave. reopens," city officials said.
