Wauwatosa School Board To Discuss Returning To In-Person Learning
The Wauwatosa School Board​ will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday night to discuss the timeline of returning to five-day-per-week learning.
WAUWATOSA, WI— The Wauwatosa School Board will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday night to discuss the timeline of returning to five-day-per-week learning. On Tuesday, the Medical/Public Health Advisor Panel recommended the board approve the recommendation to move JK-5 grade to 5 days a week in-person learning, based in part on the recommendation of the Medical/Public Health Advisory Committee, starting on January 6, 2021.
The Medical Panel also recommend that it continue to explore allowing secondary students to return to five-day-per-week instruction on Monday, January 25, 2021, pending further discussion.
"The Superintendent, in consultation with the Medical/Public Health Advisory Committee, is authorized to shift to exclusively virtual instruction because of worsening metrics in Wauwatosa. Approval of the School Board is not required for shift to virtual instruction," according to the school board agenda.

On Tuesday, the district's Medical / Public Health Advisory Panel also reviewed and updated recommendations regarding quarantine periods and illness symptoms.
The District’s quarantine period will be reduced to 7-10 days. Individuals may end their quarantine on day 7 if they receive a negative coronavirus test on day 6 or later. Without a negative test on day 6 or later, individuals must remain quarantined for 10 days from the last possible date of exposure.

The District’s exclusion guidelines have been modified to exclude individuals from school and/or District programming only if they have one major or two minor symptoms, according to the school board's website.
