Wauwatosa's Burbach, Weber Honored As 'Hometown Heroes'
Two of Wauwatosa's finest were honored as hometown heroes this week at a ceremony at the Wisconsin State Capitol building in Madison.
MADISON, WI — Two of Wauwatosa's finest were honored as hometown heroes this week at a ceremony at the Wisconsin State Capitol building in Madison.
Wauwatosa Police Officer Tracy Burbach received a Hometown Hero award from the Wisconsin State Assembly as First Responder of the Year for the 14th Assembly District. Wauwatosa police chief Barry Weber was also recognized as a Hometown Hero.
A ceremony by the Wisconsin State Assembly was held this week at the State Capitol to honor the first responders across the state.

State Rep. Robyn Vining (D-Wauwatosa) released the following statement regarding the honor:
“Officer Tracy Burbach serves the city of Wauwatosa with honor and distinction as a School Resource Officer, and has been nominated by citizens of the 14th Assembly District for the honor of the First Responder of the Year. She is a staple in Wauwatosa School District culture -- she’s proactive in building relationships with students, engages in classroom activities daily, and encourages students with her positive and supportive demeanor.

"Barry Weber is one of the longest serving Police Chiefs in Wisconsin having served in this capacity 29 years and further has hired every sworn officer in the Wauwatosa Police Department," State Rep. Rob Hutton (R-Brookfield) said in a statement. "Representative Rob Hutton, on behalf of the Wisconsin State Assembly, hereby recognizes Barry Weber as the First Responder of the Year for the 13th Assembly District in recognition of his selfless dedication and service to our community."
