The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) is responsible for coordinating logistics and allocation of the COVID-19 vaccine. The Wauwatosa Health Department is working with local and state partners, so that our area is prepared to get people vaccinated when the vaccine is available.

As of January 19, 2021, we are currently in Phase 1A. This phase includes health care workers and residents and staff of long term care facilities. Some of the people in Phase 1A included our EMS staff in the Fire Department - who received their first dose of the vaccine last week.

Phase 1B will likely include persons above 65 years of age, staff and residents of congregate living facilities, and public-facing essential workers, including first responders, education, childcare, and non-frontline health personnel. Then we anticipate in Phase 1C, persons aged 16–64 years with high-risk medical conditions, and essential workers not included in Phase 1B will start receiving COVID-19 vaccine. This information is subject to change based on further guidelines and vaccine supply.

It will take many months to vaccinate all Wisconsinites. While you wait for your turn to get the vaccine, there are a few things you can do:
