68-Year-Old Woman Killed In Head-On Highway Collision

A woman trying to pass a semi truck on Highway 33 collided with a car heading in the opposite direction, sheriff's officials said.

OZAUKEE COUNTY, WI — A 68-year-old Kewaskum woman is dead following an accident on Highway 33 in Ozaukee County Wednesday afternoon, sheriff's officials said.

Ozaukee County sheriff's officials said a 67-year-old Kewaskum man was behind the wheel of a 2018 GMC Acadia as he and his 68-year-old passenger were driving east on Highway 33 just before noon Wednesday.

Authorities said a 34-year-old Milwaukee woman was driving in the opposite direction on Highway 33, and attempted to overtake a semi truck by driving into the eastbound lane in an attempt to go around the truck.

Sheriff's officials said the woman driving the Challenger didn't make it, and collided head-on with the Acadia. Authorities said the Milwaukee woman was rushed to the Aurora Medical Center in Grafton with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Acadia was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital in West Bend for non-life-threatening injuries. His passenger, the 68-year-old Kewaskum woman, succumbed to her injuries early Thursday at the Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.
