One of the three traveling exhibits of the St. John's Bible Project will be coming to the United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay.
The St John's Bible is the first handwritten, illuminated Bible commissioned by a Benedictine Abbey in over 500 years. This display has traveled internationally, and the prints feature portions of the handwritten calligraphy and the stunning artworks that were chosen as illumination of the text. Smithsonian Magazine has called this once in a millennium endeavor "one of the extraordinary undertakings of our time".
The display will be on view in the Open Door Gallery located in the Walnut Room of United Methodist Church from April 3 to May 14, 2012. Hours for the gallery are Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. and Sunday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
