WHITEFISH BAY, WI — The tennis courts at Whitefish Bay's Cahill Park could be transformed into an ice rink starting in 2020 after village officials gave preliminary approval to plans brought forward by the Milwaukee Winter Club.

During a Sept. 16 Village Board meeting, officials gave preliminary approval for the volunteer hockey club to pursue installing the ice rink over six tennis courts from Nov. 2020 to March 2021. The rink would be a standard N.H.L. hockey rink size at 200 feet long by 85 feet wide.

Under the proposal, the Milwaukee Winter Club would pay $350,000 to buy the equipment and the village would kick in $75,000 for the same reason. The proposal stipulates that the club and village would each pay $60,000 a year to run the ice rink.
