The Hanover Insurance Group is partnering with American Advantage Insurance Group, Ansay & Associates and the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) to host a Legends for Youth baseball clinic on Saturday, June 18, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Craig Counsell Park.
The free clinic will host approximately 300 local youths, ages 6 to 16, and feature former Major League Baseball players as instructors, including Cecil Cooper, Don Money, and Larry Hisle. The clinic is being held in honor of Greg Loyda, who passed away in March 2010. As a husband, father of three and an executive of The Hanover, Loyda was highly respected throughout the community and spent years coaching Whitefish Bay Little League.
“This clinic helps inspire kids to give their very best effort and achieve their full potential in all aspects of their lives,” said John Vose, assistant regional vice president with The Hanover. “We’re excited to give young baseball fans the opportunity to interact with these legends of the game through our partnerships with American Advantage and Ansay & Associates.”

The clinic’s focus is to help youth develop fundamental baseball skills, while building self-respect and confidence. The former MLB players will work with the participants at various training stations, including pitching, batting, and fielding. The goal of the program is to teach important skills that will help the participants excel on the field, at home, and at school.
“This is a great opportunity for us to come together with The Hanover to help make an impact on our local community,” said Mike Ansay, chief executive officer of Ansay & Associates. “We are proud to help bring the Legends for Youth baseball clinic back again this year.”

“To have our local youth work one-on-one with these former Major Leaguers is truly unique,” said Jon Oaks, president of American Advantage. “We’re very excited to sponsor this event with the partnership of The Hanover and the MLBPAA.”
Online registration is encouraged through MLB Alumni at http://mlbpaa.mlb.com/mlbpaa/events/legends_form.jsp. In-person registration begins at 8:30 a.m. if space is still available. Children will receive a free T-shirt, a baseball and a healthy lunch. They also will enjoy an autograph and photo session with the players.
