Lou Malnati's Sets Opening Date For First Wisconsin Pizza Place

FOX POINT, WI — Lou Malnati's, a popular Chicago style pizza chain that's been named one of the best pizzas in the U.S. is said to be opening their first restaurant in Wisconsin.

Lou Malnati's wants to put a carryout and delivery shop at 8799 N. Port Washington Road in Fox Point. The shop would be located in the Riverpoint Village Shopping Center.

They're planning to open in early December.

According to a JSOnline report, the Fox Point location will be a carry-out joint, though company officials say they want to open up to five Wisconsin locations, some of which may be full-service restaurants.

Lou Malnati's Chicago Classic has been ranked by The Thrillist as one of the top 33 pizzas in America. The pizzeria has over thirty locations across the Chicago area. Thrillist says Lou's is serving up some of the best deep-dish pizza in the nation."Deep-dish has a tendency to ignite strong feelings everywhere," writer Matt Lynch wrote. "New Yorkers will steadfastly insist it "isn't pizza", meanwhile my brother will threaten to disown me for picking Lou's over Giordano's.

Restaurant founder Lou Malnati got his start in the 1940s working in Chicago's first deep dish pizzeria. He and his wife Jean opened the first Lou Malnati's Pizzeria in 1971. Now they're known for their virtuoso Chicago-style deep dish pizza.
