Mother Cited After Daughter Misses 175 Class Periods: Report

WHITEFISH BAY, WI — Police in Whitefish Bay say a Whitefish Bay High School student was cited for truancy for missing more than 175 class periods during the first semester.

According to Whitefish Bay Police call logs, the department's community liaison officer reported taking a truancy referral at Whitefish Bay High School for a 17-year-old girl who is a junior at the school.

Police said the girl missed more than 175 class periods of the 2019-20 school year. That figure amounts to the equivalent of nearly 22 full days. A citation for habitual truancy was mailed to her, and a second citation for contributing to the girl's truancy was mailed to her 42-year-old mother.
