North Shore Coronavirus Case Rate Slowing Down, Officials Say

According to data recorded by the North Shore Health Department, the 7-day average for new cases has declined steadily since July 23.

WHITEFISH BAY, WI — The rate of new COVID-19 cases in the North Shore is slowing after reaching a high-water mark in late July, North Shore Health Department data shows.

According to the North Shore Health Department, there have been 663 cumulative cases in the North Shore communities. As of Aug. 4 there are 84 active cases, and 561 people have recovered.

Health officials say 17 people have died as a result of the virus to date.

According to data recorded by the North Shore Health Department, the 7-day average for new cases has declined steadily since July 23, when the average was about 17 daily cases. As of Aug. 4, the 7-day average rested at about seven new cases.

North Shore communities collectively have a positive case rate of 249 per 100,000 new cases over the last 14 days. Glendale and River Hills had the highest case rate over that time, with 350 and 376 new cases per 100,000 people.

Health officials said 11.2 percent of all confirmed COVID-19 cases resulted in hospitalizations, and the average age of those hospitalized was 68 years, health officials said.

About 13,957 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the North Shore as of Monday, and 21.5 percent of the total North Shore population has been tested.
