Peaceful Protest Planned Saturday In Whitefish Bay

Organizers expect to gather Saturday at about 1 p.m. at Big bay Park/Buckley Park in Whitefish Bay to begin the march.

WHITEFISH BAY, WI — A peaceful protest over George Floyd, who died in police custody last week, will be held in Whitefish Bay on Saturday in what is planned to be a march south from the North Shore community into Milwaukee.

"Join us in a rally and protest to mourn the loss of George Floyd and other victims of police brutality. We must show suburban communities this isn’t an issue that can continue to be ignored," organizers said.

Organizers expect to gather Saturday at about 1 p.m. at Big bay Park/Buckley Park in Whitefish Bay to begin the march.

According to event organizers, the march route will take participants through Milwaukee's North Shore communities, along Milwaukee's East Side with the goal of reaching the Milwaukee County Courthouse.

"We urge those who attend to remain peaceful," organizers wrote. "Bring your signs, walking shoes, voice, and time."
