People In Their 20s Have Most Coronavirus Cases In North Shore

The age group with the most positive COVID-19 cases in the North Shore is between 20-29 years old.

WHITEFISH BAY, WI — North Shore Health Department officials say they're seeing a dip in positive COVID-19 cases in mid-August when compared with July's peak, yet they're still seeing an average of about seven new cases per day across North Shore communities.

Among those new cases is a continuing new COVID-19 case trend for people in their 20s. The age group with the most positive COVID-19 cases in the North Shore is between 20-29 years old, health officials reported this week. This age group represents 22 percent of all cases.

According to the North Shore Health Department, North Shore communities have reported 793 cumulative COVID-19 cases as of Aug. 20. Also, there have been 83 total hospitalizations as of Aug. 20, according to health department data — about 10 percent of all confirmed cases.

Health officials said the average age of those hospitalized is 66.1.

North Shore Health Department data shows the 7-day rolling average for positive COVID-19 case percentage has been hovering between 3.7 percent and 4.2 percent in mid-August.
