Police Report: Locker Room Theft, Injured Bicyclist

The latest Whitefish Bay police reports also include a shoplifter who attempted to evade police on Fairmount Avenue.

A 25-year-old Milwaukee woman is being charged with retail theft after stealing merchandise from H&M at Bayshore Town Center last week.

After stealing merchandise from H&M, the woman was pulled over by Whitefish Bay police at 6:04 p.m. on April 8 at Kent Avenue and Fairmount Avenue, which prompted a male passenger to flee on foot. He was later caught by Whitefish Bay and Glendale police and was turned over to the Greendale Police Department on an outstanding warrant.

In addition to facing county charges, the driver also received six municipal citations from Whitefish Bay, including imprudent speed, failing to yield while making a left turn and improperly displaying license plates.

In other Whitefish Bay police news:

  • A Whitefish Bay High School student admitted to stealing a total of $21 in cash from two backpacks left on the ground of the boys locker room on April 10. The owners of the backpacks were in gym class at the time of the theft. The student told police that he asked for permission to go to the bathroom during study hall, and went rummaging through backpacks because he needed money to pay off Whitefish Bay municipal citations. Now the boy will have another citation to pay – this time for theft.
  • A bicyclist was transported to Columbia St. Mary's Hospital for minor injuries after a vehicle collision at the corner of Lydell Avenue and Henry Clay Street at 9:12 p.m. on April 11. The driver was cited for failing to yield to a stop sign at the intersection. 
  • Bruegger's Bagels is a favorite after-school hangout for Whitefish Bay kids, but things apparently got a little too rowdy this past Friday afternoon. One of the store employees called police around 4:12 p.m. because a group of kids were being loud and disorderly. Police counseled two kids about their behavior.
